Pyrolysis oil supply
Oil produced from end-of-life tyres, supplied by the load or on contract for industrial fuel and feedstock use.
Request a quote for pyrolysis oilWhat it is
Tyre pyrolysis oil, sometimes called TPO, is the liquid produced when tyres are heated without oxygen. It is a mixture of hydrocarbons with a high energy content.
Quality varies between producers. Sulphur, water content, density and flash point differ, and these decide whether the oil can be burned as it is or needs upgrading first.
Typical specification
Final values are agreed per order.
| Form | Liquid, supplied by tank or in drums and IBCs |
| Sulphur | Stated per grade and agreed in the supply terms |
| Water and sediment | Maximum percentages, agreed in the supply terms |
| Density and flash point | Stated per grade |
| Delivery | Road tanker, ISO tank or IBCs |
Where it is used
- Industrial burners and boilers
- Blending into heavy fuel oil, where permitted
- Feedstock for further refining or chemical processing after upgrading
What we need to quote
- Intended use and the specification the oil must meet
- Limits on sulphur, water and sediment
- Volume in tonnes or litres, monthly or for a single load
- Delivery point and unloading arrangements
- Any regulatory classification needed in the destination country
Questions
Can pyrolysis oil be used directly in a boiler?
Often only after blending or treatment, and it depends on the burner. Tell us your equipment and we confirm which grade suits it.
Is it classed as a fuel or as waste?
This differs by country and by how the oil is produced and used. Check with the regulator where the oil will be used, and tell us the destination so we quote for the right documentation.
