Tyre shred supply
Shredded tyre in the size range your project or process needs, supplied by the load or on contract.
Request a quote for tyre shredWhat it is
Tyre shred is produced by cutting whole tyres into pieces. Shredders produce a range of sizes, from chips of a few centimetres to pieces about 300 mm across.
Size and steel content decide where the material can go. Larger pieces with the steel still in suit civil engineering. Smaller, cleaner chips suit fuel use and further processing.
Typical specification
Final values are agreed per order.
| Size | From about 20 mm chips to about 300 mm shred |
| Steel | Wire left in or mostly removed, as specified |
| Condition | Loose in bulk, in tipper trailers or containers |
| Contaminants | Soil, stones and other materials limited by agreement |
Where it is used
- Lightweight fill and embankments
- Drainage layers and landfill engineering
- Retaining wall backfill
- Feedstock for crumb production
- Feedstock for tyre-derived fuel
What we need to quote
- Size range and whether the steel stays in
- Intended use and any engineering standard it must meet
- Volume, monthly or for a single load
- Delivery point and vehicle access
- Destination country, since rules on tyre use in construction vary
Questions
Is shred the same as tyre-derived fuel?
They overlap. Fuel-grade shred is usually smaller and has a tighter specification for steel and other contaminants. See our tyre-derived fuel page.
Can the size be specified?
Yes. Give us the size range and the maximum piece length and we quote against it.
How is shred delivered?
Normally loose in bulk by tipper, or in containers. Delivery terms depend on the delivery point.
